My household favourite - the renowned Jamaican peppered steak! Its keto-friendly so this goes nicely with a medley of steamed vegetables! Or for my rice lovers, soft basmati rice!
You'll need:
400-500g Stirloin Steak Pieces or British Beef Diced
1 Red Onion
2 Cloves Garlic
Sweet peppers
2 Salad Tomatoes
2 tbs Soy sauce
3 Beef XO cubes
1 tbs Rapeseed oil
1 tbs Thyme
1 tbs All purpose seasoning
1 tbs Paprika
1 tbs Cornflour / Plain flour
2 tbs Brown sugar
1 scotch bonnet
Secret ingredient: 1 tbs tomato ketchup (recipe on previous page)
Method:
Wash the steak pieces with lemon and water.
Season the steak with 1 oxo cube, all purpose seasoning, thyme and paprika and set aside (for full flavour season overnight).
Add the oil to your saucepan with garlic and 1 onion diced. Sauté for 2 minutes. Remove from the saucepan into a bowl.
Using the same oil from the garlic and onions, add your steak pieces to the saucepan and cook for 10 minutes until brown. Remove the steak pieces and place aside in a bowl.
The saucepan will have the stock from the beef - this is what we need to start the sauce! Boil the kettle.Using an average sized mug, crush 2 beef oxo cubes, add hot water and the flour, then stir. Pour the mixture into the saucepan and allow to simmer for 2 minutes. Now add your thyme, brown sugar, soy sauce and the secret ingredient then stir! You may want to add hot pepper sauce to give it a kick - alternatively you can finely chop a scotch bonnet and add to our sauce.
Add the steak to the sauce and stir. Then add the onions, garlic, tomatoes and peppers to the saucepan. Put a lid on and simmer for 20 minutes till meat is tender.
Either eat with rice or steamed veg!
